NYMPHENBURG  (Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory. Munich, Germany)
The first porcelain manufactory in Bavaria, 'founded in 1747', is located in the Nymphenburg Palace grounds. The early factory produced the first-ever large porcelain table centrepiece, followed by famous pieces such as the Commedia dell'Arte figures. Noted for fine tableware, accessories and figurines, today it also produces lighting, majolica tiles, fountains and garden figures, and has a retail store and outlet on the grounds.
Browse the many images, inquire about publications, or read the 'Arcanum' pages to learn how wares are hand-formed, painted and gilded (the factory makes its own paints). Visitors can book a guided factory tour, or visit the palace museums to see the world's largest Nymphenburg collection, on loan from the Baeuml family.
