Museum of the history of St PETERSBURG  (Saint Petersburg, Russia)
The beginnings of this State Museum date back to 1938, and from 1955-1991 it was called the Museum of Leningrad History. It now has seven branches, with headquarters in the Peter and Paul Fortress, and is one of Russia's biggest collections. It holds over 12,380 items of ceramics and glassware, ranging from fine porcelain and decorative items to everyday household wares. Visitors can see 5,000 of these pieces on permanent exhibition in The Fortress; ask about group visits or guided tours.    In English & Russian.

Najat  (Najat El-Khairy. Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
Najat's art and detailed porcelain designs draw on her Palestinian heritage, ranging from olive trees, Arabic calligraphy and Tree of Life images to embroidery patterns. Items from her embroidery collection sometimes feature in exhibitions.
